Our Story
Sunshine Creative Reuse began with a vision: to bring something new to Brevard—a vibrant, imaginative space where creativity and sustainability meet. A place where families, artists, teachers, students, and curious wanderers could gather to make, explore, and connect.
Founded by Jamie Oulton in 2024, Sunshine Creative Reuse grew from her lifelong passion for the arts, a yearning to spend more time in a creative hands-on environment, and a commitment to making the arts more accessible to the community of Transylvania County.
In 2025, Sunshine Creative Reuse appointed its first Board of Directors, laying the foundation for the organization's next chapter: working toward opening a physical space where creativity, community, and reuse can thrive together.
Our Values
Sustainability: Creative reuse gives new life to materials that already exist! Donated art supplies can be reused or resold and given a new life, keeping them out of landfills.
Community: Sunshine Creative Reuse offers a space for makers, volunteers, artists, educators, and neighbors to connect, collaborate, learn, and create together.
Creativity: Art is for everyone, and we create spaces where people can explore, play, and express themselves without judgment.
Accessibility: Sunshine Creative Reuse provides affordable materials so that art, craft, and creativity are accessible to everyone — regardless of income or background.
Meet the Team
Jamie Oulton
Founder & Executive Director
Jamie was fortunate to have two strong creative influences growing up: her mother, an elementary art teacher; and her father, a residential home builder. As a child, this meant having a seemingly endless supply of materials and inspiration with which to create. Jamie would spend hours constructing and decorating miniature houses from old cardboard boxes - her first memory of experimenting with creative reuse!
Jamie's professional career spans sustainability and social impact, and is grounded in a desire to leave the world a better place than she found it. She has always had an entrepreneurial spirit, and ever since she wandered into her first creative reuse center in 2015, she saw it as the perfect opportunity to combine her passion for the arts, care for Mother Earth, and love for her community.
Bekah Wallace
Board Member
Bekah grew up in a family with a fully stocked craft cupboard and is happiest sitting on the floor, creating vibrant mood boards with paper and scraps. A lifelong connector of people and ideas, she brings creativity and community spirit to everything she does. With a background in social entrepreneurship and community development, Bekah is thrilled to bring her passion for creativity and community to the Sunshine Creative Reuse Board. She first discovered the magic of a creative reuse store when her daughter was preschool age in Ann Arbor, MI, and now looks forward to sharing that joy with families in our community.

Shiloh Broadway
Board Member
Shiloh has a lifelong passion for creativity and believes that art is for everyone. Growing up in a family of artists, creativity has been a constant presence in her life. Since moving to Brevard in 2016, she has shared her love of art by hosting a monthly mending circle at the Transylvania County Library and helping to curate the Brevard Art Project, a local submission-based zine. Shiloh is always on the lookout for new creative projects. Sunshine Creative Reuse is a natural fit for her passions for sustainability and accessible arts.
